An assassination attempt targeting Dr. Mahrang Baloch, central organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), and other BYC leaders during the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’ (Baloch National Gathering) in Gwadar was reportedly foiled on Sunday.

According to reports, participants of the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi’ apprehended two Military Intelligence (MI) agents, armed with 9mm pistols and several rounds of ammunition, near the stage of the event.

In a video obtained by The Balochistan Post, the captured men confessed to being sent by Pakistan’s Military Intelligence to assassinate Dr. Baloch and other BYC leaders.

Following the capture of the agents, Pakistani security forces reportedly demanded their immediate handover, warning of severe consequences for the BYC leadership if the agents were not released.

Earlier, the BYC reported threats from security forces to kill party leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen Baloch. An audio recording, allegedly of the Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar making these threats, has surfaced on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the crackdown on peaceful Baloch protesters in Gwadar and other parts of Balochistan has intensified. Eyewitnesses describe instances of ‘extreme brutality,’ including the use of armored vehicles being driven into protesters, resulting in numerous injuries.

Additional reports suggest that Pakistani forces have set ablaze or damaged multiple vehicles in Gwadar, contributing to the turmoil. The city is experiencing a complete shutdown of communication systems.

A standoff near Gaddani was also reported, where a BYC convoy traveling to Gwadar was blocked by Pakistani security forces. In response, protesters have staged a sit-in, blocking a major highway.

The heavy-handed crackdown has sparked widespread protests across Balochistan, bringing daily life to a standstill in the region. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has appealed to international organizations and media to take notice of the ongoing state violence and report these incidents.
