A one-day program was organized by a local German organization with the title of ‘Balochistan Info Unit’ in Berlin.

The program consisted of two parts where the first part presented a drama and a short documentary on enforced disappearances and human rights violations by Pakistani forces in Balochistan.

In the second part, Baloch human rights activist Abdullah Abbas Baloch spoke in detail about the current situation in Balochistan and answered the questions of the participants.

Human Rights Council Balochistan’s (HRCB) Information Secretary Abdullah Abbas said that people from all walks of life in Balochistan are facing oppression by Pakistani intelligence agencies and enforced disappearances in the region continue unabated.

He said that the Baloch political activists detained by the so-called Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) are being killed in fake encounters.

Abbas said that the media in Balochistan is completely blackout and under the army’s control. If anyone talks about Balochistan, gets forcibly disappeared or killed. He further said that Europen Union should review the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status given to Pakistan. There are laws in Pakistan that are against the rights of minorities and oppressed nations.

The EU’s GSP+ gives developing countries a special incentive to pursue sustainable development and good governance. In return, the EU cuts its import duties to zero on more than two-thirds of the tariff lines of their exports.

In response to a question, Abbas said that the German people should urge their government to stop selling arms to Pakistan. Today, Pakistan is killing Baloch people with the same arms.

At the end of the program, photographs of the martyred activists were shown and tributes were paid to them.
