Missing Jahanzaib’s mother during a sit-in protest in Quetta has appealed to be provided information about her son and save her from life long suffering.

Jahanzeb Muhammad Hassni was reportedly disappeared from Killi Qambrani Quetta in 2016, who’s mother is holding a sit-in protest in the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons’ (VBMP) protest camp.

Whereas on Monday, the VBMP’s protest for the safe recovery of forcibly disappeared persons completed its 4655th day in-front of the Quetta press club. On this occasion, political and social workers visited the camp for expressing solidarity with the victim families.

While talking to the visitors, Mama Qadeer Baloch, the Vice Chairman of VBMP urged the international institutions to play their role for prevention of enforced disappearances. “The so-called democratic institutions here are helpless and powerless,” he added.

Mama Qadeer further said: “On one hand, the enforced disappearance of political activists has been going on and on the other hand, an atmosphere of fear is being created by killing the youth through death squads”.

It should be noted the Pakistan Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif on his visit to Balochistan on Saturday said he would raise the issue of missing persons with “powerful quarters”.

“Today, I’m making a promise. I will speak for missing persons along with you”, Shehbaz Sharif vowed. “We will raise the issue with powerful quarters and we will talk to them on the basis of law, justice and merit.”

After his statement, PM Shehbaz has been criticised and questioned by social media activists and journalists.

Journalist Kiyya Baloch quoted the PM’s statement asking, “the question is, who are those “powerful quarters” that are more powerful than the PM? #missingpersons”

Taking to the twitter another journalist, Zubair Ali Khan questioned: “Is not Prime Minister powerful???”
