Pakistani forces reportedly detained several Zikri pilgrims when they were heading to Koh-e Murad on Saturday evening.

According to sources, forces stopped a group of pilgrims near Dandar area of district Kech, when they were on their way to visit Koh-e- Murad [Mount Murad], a religious site for Zikris. The forces reportedly detained the pilgrims and shifted them to a military camp.

It is to be mentioned, Zikri pilgrims from Balochistan, Sindh and other areas continue to visit Koh-e-Murad to fulfil their religious duties. Large numbers of people including women, the elderly and children flock to Turbat by foot or other means of transport.

All the pilgrims were reportedly released after several hours of detention, except an elderly man named Nako Ibrahim, who remains under custody of the security forces. The reason for the arrest is yet to be revealed by the authorise.

Locals have strongly criticized the security forces’ actions, claiming that people are harassed and disappeared on a daily basis by the security forces, and now the pilgrims are also not safe from the forces.
