Farooq Ahmed Bazai has been appointed by the Federal Education Ministry as the acting chairperson of the Higher Education Commission. 

Mr. Bazai is currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS).

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training issued a notification in this regard saying that Dr. Tariq Banuri has ceased to hold the office of the Chairperson HEC w.e.f 26th March 2021.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUITEMS told media that Mr. Bazai will hold additional charge of HEC acting chairman, besides being the VC of BUITEMS.

BUITEMS was established in 2002, and inaugurated by the governor Balochistan then, Justice (R) Amir ul Mulk Mengal. Recently, the BUITEMS ranked among one of the top 600 universities of South Asia. Over 10 thousand male and female students are studying at the university located in the western outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
