At least 8 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in a bomb explosion inside a madressah (seminary), on Tuesday, in Peshawar city of Pakistan’s KP province.

According to details, the blast took place in the morning during a Quran class inside the Jamia Zuberia madressah in Dir colony of Peshawar.

The Police confirming the incident said that Four of the deceased were identified as students between the ages of 20 to 25. Two teachers were also among the injured, police added.

According to initial police reports, an improvised explosive device containing 5 kg explosives was used in the explosion. Police has cordoned off the area and started collecting evidence.

The attacks of such fashion have been claimed by various religious extremist groups but no group has claimed responsibility for this attack. Whereas, a religious militant group active in the region, Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has condemned the attack on a religious institution.

The TTP spokesperson Mohammed Khurasani said that targeting religious schools for any purpose and killing religious students is highly reprehensible and every Muslim must be saddened by this.

Many renowned politicians including the President and Prime Minister of the country has condemned the attack.
