Two separate cases involving an alleged enforced disappearance and the recovery of a previously missing individual have been reported from Mastung and Quetta, according to local sources.

In the first case, Sher Baz Bangulzai, son of Khan Mohammad and a resident of Isplinji in Mastung district, was reportedly forcibly disappeared on 18 July 2025 from the Terah Meel area of Dasht, Mastung.

According to information provided by local sources, Sher Baz worked as a bus conductor. His family has alleged that personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were involved in his detention. No official statement regarding the allegations has been issued, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

In a separate development, Shoaib Baloch, son of Mohammad Asif Baloch and a resident of Killi Almas on Airport Road in Quetta, has reportedly returned home after more than a year in disappearance.

According to family members, Shoaib was allegedly forcibly disappeared on 4 August 2025 and was recovered on 25 September 2026 from the Jabal-e-Noor area of Quetta. No further details regarding the circumstances of his recovery were immediately available.

The cases come amid continuing reports of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families, human rights groups and political organisations have repeatedly raised concerns over individuals allegedly being detained and subsequently held incommunicado. Pakistani authorities have denied involvement in many such cases and maintain that security operations in the region are conducted in accordance with the law.

Local rights organisations and families of missing persons have long argued that a significant number of cases are reported months or even years after the alleged disappearance, citing fear, security concerns and social pressures as factors that delay public reporting. As a result, they say, the full scale of the issue may not be immediately reflected in publicly available records.

At the time of publication, no official response had been issued regarding Sher Baz Bangulzai’s reported disappearance or the circumstances surrounding Shoaib Baloch’s recovery.
