The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed concern over a reported drone strike on a civilian home in Mastung district, alleging that the attack resulted in the loss of livestock belonging to a local family.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the organisation said that on 3 June, a drone strike allegedly carried out by Pakistani military forces targeted the home of a resident identified as Muhammad Ibrahim in the Dasht Kumbail area of Mastung.

According to the statement, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, BYC claimed that more than 50 livestock animals belonging to the family were killed. The organisation described the animals as the family’s primary source of income.

BYC stated that many residents in remote parts of Balochistan rely on livestock herding for their livelihoods due to limited employment opportunities. It alleged that local communities living in mountainous and rural areas are often affected by security operations and military activities.

The organisation further claimed that residents in some areas have faced house demolitions, displacement, enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings during Pakistani military operations. It argued that the reported loss of livestock had deprived an already vulnerable family of its means of subsistence.

BYC described the alleged drone strike as a serious incident and called on international human rights organisations, including the United Nations, to examine reports of drone strikes and alleged human rights violations in Balochistan.

Pakistani authorities had not publicly commented on BYC’s allegations at the time of reporting.
