A coal miner was killed after a section of a mine collapsed in Balochistan’s Dukki district on Sunday, hospital sources said.
The incident occurred while miners were working inside the mine, when earth reportedly caved in and trapped one of the workers beneath the debris. He died before he could be rescued.
The deceased was identified as Mir Wali, son of Khudai Nazar, a member of the Nasar tribe and a resident of Loralai district.
Coal mine accidents are frequently reported in Balochistan, particularly in Dukki, where large numbers of workers are employed in the mining sector. Labour organisations and workers’ representatives have repeatedly raised concerns over inadequate safety measures and poor working conditions in the province’s mines.
