Two “pro-independence” Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Pakistani forces, police posts and energy infrastructure across Balochistan, while police confirmed the killing of two Oil and Gas Development Company Limited personnel in one of the incidents.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch claimed responsibility for multiple attacks in Noshki, Panjgur and Gwadar districts, including an IED attack on Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, the seizure of police posts and the confiscation of weapons and equipment.
According to the statement, BLF fighters targeted an FC vehicle with an improvised explosive device in the Maal area of Noshki on June 12. The group claimed that two FC personnel were killed and several others wounded in the attack.
The BLF also claimed responsibility for an attack in Panjgur district on June 10, in which two men identified as Hatum, son of Pir Jan, and Haleem, son of Muhammad Azum, residents of Sari Koran, were killed. A third man, identified as Mehroz, was reportedly wounded.
The group alleged that the three men were affiliated with Pakistani forces and were travelling towards an FC camp at the time of the attack. It further accused them of involvement in activities against the Baloch nationalist movement, including participation in military-backed operations and enforced disappearances.
The BLF further said its fighters established a checkpoint in the Kuchki area of Noshki on June 9, where they searched vehicles, seized a police post and burned official records. According to the statement, the blockade remained in place for about two hours.
In another operation on June 7, the group said its fighters set up checkpoints at several locations along the Dho-Bist Panjah Road in the Gobd Qalato area of Gwadar district. It claimed that two police posts were seized and weapons, a vehicle and other equipment were confiscated, including one M-16 rifle and three Kalashnikov rifles.
The BLF said surveillance cameras installed at the posts were destroyed, adding that its fighters later repelled Pakistani forces that responded to the area.
Separately, the Baloch Republican Army (BRA) claimed responsibility for destroying two newly constructed gas wells at the Tobo site in the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district.
In a statement issued by spokesperson Sarbaz Baloch, the BRA said its fighters used explosives to destroy the wells. The group also claimed responsibility for a separate attack on an Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) survey team operating in the same area.
According to the statement, BRA fighters opened fire on the survey team, killing two company employees. Police officials confirmed that a driver and his helper were killed in the incident.
The BRA said the attacks were intended to halt the extraction of natural resources from Balochistan, which it described as being carried out without the consent of the Baloch people.
The group further alleged that Pakistani authorities have conducted military operations in Dera Bugti for years to facilitate oil and gas exploration and extraction, claiming that such operations have resulted in civilian casualties, enforced disappearances, and large-scale displacement.
The BRA said it would continue to oppose resource extraction projects in Balochistan and warned that future operations in the region would face resistance.
Pakistani authorities have not officially commented on the BLF and BRA claims regarding the attacks, casualties and seizures described in the statements.
