The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a “pro-independence” armed group, said on Friday its fighters carried out two separate attacks in Turbat and Mastung districts of Balochistan, targeting a Pakistani army camp and a mineral transport vehicle.
Jeeyand Baloch, the group’s spokesperson, said in a media statement that fighters fired several rockets at a Pakistani army camp in the Meeri Bug area of Turbat on Thursday. He said the rockets struck their targets, setting fire to a vehicle parked inside the camp and killing two Pakistani soldiers, while at least four others were injured.
He said a separate squad of BLA fighters conducted snap checks on the nearby highway after the attack.
In a second operation, the BLA said its fighters fired on a vehicle transporting minerals in the Zali area of Mastung on Tuesday, damaging the truck.
The group said it accepted responsibility for both attacks.
Pakistani military officials and local authorities had not issued statements responding to the claims at the time of publication.
