A police officer was killed and multiple attacks targeting Pakistani armed forces and mineral transport vehicles were reported across Balochistan on Friday.

In Kharan district, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police party, killing Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Qasim on the spot, local officials said. Police personnel later arrived at the scene and shifted the body to a nearby hospital.

In the Dasht area of Mastung, unidentified assailants attacked a patrolling unit of Pakistani forces with heavy weapons. Local sources said Pakistani forces suffered casualties in the attack; however, authorities did not issue a statement at the time of publication.

Meanwhile, in the Khadkucha area of Mastung, armed men opened fire on two trucks transporting minerals, damaging both vehicles. Frontier Corps (FC) troops later reached the site and cordoned off the area.

Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for an ambush on Pakistani armed forces along the main highway between Sibi and Bakhtiarabad on Thursday, 16 October.

In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the group’s fighters attacked a patrol near Dosa Lashari, killing two soldiers and seriously injuring two others. He said the vehicle used by the forces was badly damaged.

The BRG warned police and Levies personnel against night patrols, saying those who do so “will be responsible for their losses.” The group said it accepts responsibility for the attack and vowed to continue operations “until the independence of Balochistan” is achieved.
