At least four people were forcibly disappeared in Balochistan on Tuesday, while one previously missing individual was released, according to reports.
Two Youths Disappear in Turbat
Seventeen-year-old student Kamil Sharif and his close relative Ehsan Sarwar went missing from Turbat at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Kamil is the son of Sharif Zakir, the director of Saach School and a well-known social figure in the region. Ehsan Sarwar is his close relative.
Sharif Zakir confirmed their disappearance, stating that both youths had left Saach School near Park Hotel for an important task but never returned. Their phones have been switched off since then.
Zakir said he made every effort to locate them but found no trace. He later filed a police report, urging authorities to investigate their disappearance and identify those responsible.
It is noteworthy that two days before their disappearance, a grenade attack targeted Zakir’s residence in Singani Sar, followed by gunfire. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Disappearances in Kharan and Quetta, One Man Released After 14 Days
In a separate incident, Pakistani forces allegedly abducted a young man in Kharan and took him to an undisclosed location.
According to local sources, Mubarak Baloch, son of Mir Ahmed, a tailor, was allegedly forcibly disappeared from the Girls’ Shopping Bazaar in Kharan. Witnesses told The Balochistan Post (TBP) that intelligence agencies personnel arrived in three unmarked civilian vehicles and abducted Mubarak Siyapad while he was sitting in his shop.
Meanwhile, Mubarak’s younger brother, Hafiz Ali Mir, was allegedly forcibly disappeared in Quetta. Following these incidents, the family, along with Baloch activists, staged a sit-in protest at the Red Zone in Kharan, demanding the safe release of both brothers.
Separately, 65-year-old Abdul Kareem, a resident of Menaz, Buleda, was released on Tuesday after being forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces for 14 days.
Escalating Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan
Enforced disappearances remain widespread in Balochistan, with daily reports of individuals being taken by security forces.
According to PAANK, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), 619 cases of enforced disappearances, 68 extrajudicial killings, and 339 cases of torture were recorded across Balochistan in 2024 alone.
Human rights organizations and Baloch activists continue to demand accountability and the safe recovery of missing persons, yet enforced disappearances remain a recurring crisis in the region.
