Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a man who was previously released after being reportedly forcibly disappeared in the coastal city of Gwadar, Balochistan.
According to police sources, Zakria Zaheer was an employee of the Levies Force and had recently been a victim of enforced disappearances allegedly by Pakistani forces. He was reportedly abducted on September 27, 2024, and later released.
The incident sparked outcry and condemnation on social media, demanding justice.
The Baloch National Movement’s human rights organization, PAANK, condemned the targeted killing of Zakria Zaheer in Gwadar. In their statement, they highlighted that Zakaria, a former victim of enforced disappearance, was brutally murdered, reflecting the ongoing human rights abuses in the region.
