As part of an awareness campaign for the upcoming “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day”, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has organised rallies and programs in various cities of Balochistan. Key leaders of the BYC were present at these events.
On Sunday, the BYC held a protest rally in Malir Sharafi Goth, Karachi. A large number of men and women participated, highlighting the significance of the memorial day on 25th January 2025 in Dalbandain. The rally was aimed at mobilising the public in remembrance of the atrocities faced by the Baloch people.
Addressing the demonstrators, BYC leader Sammi Deen Baloch highlighted the ongoing struggles against state repression, enforced disappearances, and systemic violence faced by the Baloch people. She reiterated the BYC’s commitment to its goals despite severe state suppression.
Sammi Deen Baloch also referenced the police crackdown in Lyari on 18th January, during which peaceful Baloch protesters were detained. Women detainees were unlawfully held until late at night before being released, while male protesters, including the BYC Deputy Organizer Lala Wahab Baloch, were remanded for three days. She stressed that such actions cannot weaken the resolve of the Baloch people in their fight against injustice.
Similarly, an event organised by the Khuzdar Zone of the BYC took place at Shaheed Razaq Chowk, marking preparations for the “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day”. Central Organiser Dr Mahrang Baloch addressed the gathering, describing the location as a witness to the sufferings of the Baloch people.
Mahrang Baloch highlighted the state oppression and injustices faced by the Baloch, mentioning the killing of Shaheed Abdul Rauf and the discovery of mass graves in Tootak on 25th January, which led to the declaration of “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day”. She praised the strong participation of women in Khuzdar despite state-imposed obstacles, calling it a victory for the community.
In Nushki, BYC organisers Shahji Sabghtullah and Bebarg Baloch led an awareness rally where participants paid their respects at the graves of Baloch martyrs by laying flowers. The rally was part of the ongoing awareness campaign.
Meanwhile, BYC leader Dr. Sabiha Baloch is currently visiting the Chagai District. During her visit, she highlighted the importance of unity and solidarity among the Baloch people. She stated that divisions within the community have historically been exploited by adversaries, but today, the unity of the Baloch has become a source of fear for their opponents.
Dr. Sabiha Baloch called on Baloch men, women, and children to participate in the 25th January 2025 gathering in Dalbandain, demonstrating that no force can deter the Baloch people from uniting for their cause.
According to the BYC, the awareness campaign is a vital effort to highlight the struggles of the oppressed Baloch people, raise awareness of their issues, and mobilise support for the “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day”. These demonstrations and public engagements have not only amplified voices against state oppression but also galvanised the Baloch people to stand united, it said.
