Missing Irshad and Khan Mohammad

Balochistan continues to grapple with the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances, as Pakistani forces have reportedly detained three individuals from separate areas of the region who remain missing.

In Dera Bugti, Khan Mohammad Bugti was reportedly taken from his shop in the Phelawgh area by Pakistani forces several days ago. Since then, his whereabouts have remained unknown. Meanwhile, in Kech district’s Buleda Pusht Kaor, another individual identified as Irshad was allegedly subjected to physical violence before being taken by the forces during a late-night raid, leaving his family in distress over his sudden disappearance.

Additionally, in the coastal city of Gwadar, security forces have detained yet another resident, Naoman, son of Ishaq, transferring him to an undisclosed location, after which he has not been seen. This recent wave of enforced disappearances has fueled significant concerns among local communities.

Missing Naoman

Over the past month, approximately 100 people have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearances across various regions of Balochistan. In the current month alone, there have already been reports of 18 such cases, with ten individuals subsequently released. Local political organizations have voiced alarm over the escalating trend and are calling on international human rights bodies to intervene, urging them to question the Pakistani authorities and assist in securing the release of the missing individuals.
