A convoy of Pakistani security forces was ambushed by unknown armed assailants in the Ispelanji area of Mastung district, Balochistan, on Tuesday.
According to local sources, the convoy came under attack from a large group of armed assailants. An armored vehicle dispatched as reinforcement was later hit by an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in significant damage.
Sources indicate that Pakistani forces suffered losses in the attack, although no official statement has been released by authorities regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
Following the attack, helicopters were seen flying over the area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, the region has experienced frequent attacks on Pakistani forces by Baloch ‘pro-independence’ armed groups in the past.
