British Member of Parliament John McDonnell has tabled a resolution condemning the violent crackdown by security forces on a peaceful gathering in the coastal city of Gwadar, Balochistan. The rally, organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, was aimed at highlighting the issues of enforced disappearances and resource exploitation in Balochistan.

The resolution highlights that the purpose of the gathering was to demand justice for the missing persons in Balochistan. However, leaders and demonstrators from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) were reportedly harassed, detained, and dispersed by Pakistani security forces using force. Additionally, the resolution notes that Pakistani authorities disrupted internet access to prevent news of the incident from spreading.

The resolution calls on the Pakistani government to restore internet services and provide information about the number of people arrested, injured, missing, or killed. It expresses concern and condemnation over the use of violence against the rally participants and urges the Pakistani government to refrain from using force against peaceful demonstrators in the future.

The resolution also highlights the perilous conditions faced by human rights activists in Balochistan, emphasizing that their lives are at risk.

The BYC called a gathering in Gwadar Balochistan, titled as Baloch Raji Much[Baloch National Gathering] on July 28 to highlight the grave situation of human rights in Balochistan. Thousands of people from various parts of Balochistan were traveling to Gwadar to join the gathering when they met with a cruel crackdown by Pakistani law enforcement. As a result several participants died, thousands were arrested and thousands stranded on the roads withpout food and water, which includes women and childern.

The international community has increasingly taken notice of these issues, with human rights organizations calling for transparency and accountability from the Pakistani government. The resolution presented by John McDonnell reflects growing global concern over the situation in Balochistan and calls for immediate action to protect the rights and lives of Baloch people.
