In Balochistan’s Kohlu district, a woman was killed in an alleged honor killing. The woman’s body was transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kohlu, and Levies officials have confirmed that a search for the perpetrators is ongoing.
The Balochistan Post could not verify the victim’s name. She was reportedly killed in the Senri area of Kohlu. The motive behind the murder remains unclear, and the perpetrators have fled the scene.
Incidents of honor killings have been alarmingly on the rise in Kohlu. In the past two months, four women have fallen victim to such crimes. Authorities have yet to apprehend or punish any culprits.
Other districts in Balochistan have also seen a sharp increase in honor killings. In the past three weeks in June, honor killings have been reported in Bolan, Dera Murad Jamali, Usta Muhammad, and Naseerabad, where three women and two men were killed.
Human rights groups have repeatedly condemned this heinous practice and demanded that provincial and federal governments take concrete measures to address the problem. However, honor killings continue, and the culprits often go unpunished.
