Moulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, a member of the Balochistan Assembly, recently visited Ormara and issued a video statement alongside local fishermen.
He expressed grave concerns about the alleged seizure of fishermen’s lands under the guise of defense and security, which he claims is leading to feelings of insecurity and despair among the local community.
Moulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman accused Pakistani security agencies of becoming the largest land-grabbing mafia in the region. He stated that constructing large walls along the Ormara coast in the name of security and separating fishermen from their traditional fishing grounds is tantamount to economic murder.
He warned that if the encroachment on Ormara does not cease, a strong reaction will be inevitable from the fishermen and their supporters.
