At least 17 pilgrims lost their lives and 50 others were injured when their truck overturned in Hub Chowki, the industrial city of Balochistan on Wednesday.
According to reports, at least 17 pilgrims were killed and more than 50 injured when a truck carrying 100 pilgrims fell into a ditch in Hub city. Police told the media that several people were still trapped under the truck and a search operation was ongoing for them.
Police confirmed that the pilgrims from Thatta in Sindh were on their way to Shah Noorani to perform religious ceremonies, when the incident took place in Hub Chowki.
According to rescue officials, those killed and injured have been shifted to a hospital while 16 injured, who sustained serious injuries, have been shifted to hospitals in Karachi for treatment.
It’s pertain to mention that traffic accidents are a daily occurence in Balochistan. The causes of such incidents involve one-way routes, outdated roads, high-speed driving, and the negligence of drivers. Each year hundrends of people lose their lives in such accidents.
