On the night of March 25th and 26th, the Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade launched an attack on the PNS Siddique Naval Airbase in Turbat city, marking the fifth phase of BLA’s Operation Zarpahazag. Prior attacks targeted Chinese engineers at the Pearl Continental Hotel, East Bay Expressway, Faqir Colony, and Fidai attacks on intelligence headquarters at the Gwadar Port Authority complex.
The Chinese government remains concerned about the security of its engineers involved in the CPEC project in Pakistan. Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed underscores that the issue of Chinese citizens’ security is consistently raised during meetings between Pakistani and Chinese leadership.
While a division of the army is deployed to safeguard Chinese engineers, led by a Pakistani army major general, attacks by Baloch armed groups persist, adversely impacting Chinese investments and projects in Balochistan.
Despite stringent security measures, Chinese engineers continue to work on CPEC projects in Balochistan amid concerns over future attacks. Baloch armed organizations have issued warnings against foreign investments, emphasizing the necessity for dialogue with Baloch national organizations for any investment ventures in the region.
