Imtiaz Alam, a student from Balochistan, has been safely released after his mysterious disappearance in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Alam, who is pursuing an MPhil at the National Institute of Health Islamabad (NIH), was allegedly abducted from his hostel by armed men, suspected to be members of Pakistani intelligence agencies.
Eyewitnesses, including Alam’s friends and classmates, reported that the abductors used an unregistered ambulance for the abduction. They also shared footage of the incident, where a voice in Urdu can be heard saying that their friend, Imtiaz Alam, was being forcibly taken away by armed men in the ambulance.
The abduction sparked outrage and widespread condemnation from political parties, human rights activists, and journalists, who all demanded his immediate and safe return.
