The Baloch Students Organization Pajjar (BSO Pajjar) has raised significant concerns about the Reko Diq Project in Balochistan. In a statement, Senior Vice Chairman Babul Malik Baloch and Secretary Information Idrees Baloch criticized the project for allegedly favoring settlers at the expense of the indigenous Baloch population.
BSO Pajjar’s leaders claim that the Reko Diq project area resembles a garrison, enclosed with barbed wire, and is seen as a method of exploiting Balochistan’s land and resources under the guise of development.
They contend that while mega-projects in Balochistan are often publicized as billion-dollar developmental investments, they effectively result in the sale of Baloch land and resources to global powers, with little to no benefit for the local Baloch population.
The statement also addressed the issue of displacement, noting that people from other provinces are being employed and accommodated within the project, while the local Baloch are allegedly being removed and labeled as security risks. According to BSO Pajjar, this reflects an overarching pattern of exploitation and marginalization of the Baloch people.
BSO Pajjar called on the Baloch nation to stand up for their rights and resist these perceived exploitative practices. They emphasized the necessity of safeguarding their land and resources against such projects.
