In recent media statements, Baloch “pro-independence” groups, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), have claimed responsibility for attacks targeting Pakistani forces and an alleged “spy” in various areas of Balochistan.
Jeeyand Baloch, the spokesperson for the BLA, claimed responsibility for executing Maqbool Sumalani, a former member accused of betraying the group by collaborating with the Pakistani military. During his interrogation, Sumalani confessed to meeting with Pakistani intelligence officers and to involvement in the forced disappearance of a young man from his tribe.
He also admitted to delivering supplies to BLA fighters, which, unbeknownst to them, contained a tracking device leading to a drone attack. However, the BLA’s security measures thwarted the attack. The BLA captured Sumalani on October 2, and after his confession, executed him following a sentence by the “Baloch National Court.”
In a separate incident, Major Gwahram Baloch, spokesperson for the BLF, stated that their fighters targeted a Pakistani forces checkpost in Mastung on November 11th. The attack, conducted with modern and automatic weapons, allegedly resulted in the death of at least one soldier and injuries to two others.
Additionally, the BLF accused the Pakistani army of handing over its posts in Kolwah Zerbar to “Death Squads.” According to Major Gwahram Baloch, these squads, masquerading as BLF fighters, have engaged in criminal activities to discredit the BLF and spread fear.
He appealed to the public for assistance in exposing these squads and highlighted their involvement in recent violent crimes, including the assault and robbery of Nawaz Rind’s uncle, the armed robbery of Razaai Kalro, the looting of residents of Kech, and the murders of Abdul Samad and shepherd Noorbakhsh.
Both the BLA and BLF reaffirmed their determination to continue their struggle against what they term as “occupying forces” and collaborators until the liberation of Balochistan is achieved.
