A graphic novel titled “Hammal Jehand: The Sword of Baloch,” illustrating the life of the historic Baloch figure Hammal Jeeyand, or Jehand has been published as an ebook on Amazon. Authored by Nabeel Ahmed Baloch, a young resident of Gwadar. The novel is now officially available for purchase on the platform.
In a statement, Nabeel expressed his excitement over the publication of his first ebook and shared his pride in the hard work he put into the novel. The graphic novel recounts the story of Hammal Jeeyand Kalmati, a Baloch warrior from the 15th century who fought against Portuguese invaders intent on capturing the Makran coast of Balochistan. At that time, the Portuguese had already seized several ports in modern-day India and Oman and were planning to annex the coastal region of Makran.
The story details numerous attacks led by Portuguese commander Lowess Dee Almia, all of which were consistently repelled by Hammal Jeeyand and his warriors. The legend has it that “Hammal deeply loved his people and motherland Balochistan, ultimately sacrificing his life as a brave, vigorous, and great-hearted Baloch.”
Nabeel Baloch has asked readers to enjoy the book and leave their feedback and ratings on Amazon to help support his efforts and encourage him in the future. The graphic novel is now available for purchase on the author’s Amazon page.
