Representatives from All Parties Kech held a press conference at Turbat Press Club on Tuesday and called for the authorities to file a First Information Report against the Pakistani security forces in the murder of Taj Bibi, an elderly woman who was shot dead in Aapsar a few days ago.

Adv. Mashkoor Anwar, Convener for All Parties Kech, said that the authorities had filed an FIR against “unknown persons” in the Taj Bibi murder incident. He said that this act is condemnable and the FIR must be registered against the Pakistani security forces. He said that such a false FIR is tantamount to denying justice to the victim and her family.

The family of slain Taj Bibi said that she and her elderly husband were on their way to the nearby mountains to cut trees when the security forces opened fire on them. She was killed at the spot and her husband was wounded.

The family said that we tried to file an FIR against the security forces for the incident and we even gave specific names but to no avail. Despite all the incriminating evidence, the FIR was registered against “unknown persons” on September 25th.

They said that security forces have been involved in such gruesome acts in the past, and this is causing fear and anxiety among locals. They demanded that the FIR must be filed per demands of family members of the slain victim. They said that if the authorities refused to comply, protests will be announced throughout Kech against security forces and their abettors.

In a video on social media, Taj Bibi’s brother Tariq Baloch says that his sister was not killed by some “unknown persons” – as the fabricated FIR claims – but by the Pakistani forces who opened fire on her from their check post. “I am an eyewitness to this incident”, he said.

Tariq says that we demanded the authorities to visit the crime scene and investigate the incident thoroughly, but to no avail. He said that if the authorities cannot register an FIR against the culprits, then they should take back the FIR against unknown persons.
