Kashmiri separatist leader Ashraf Sehrai has died while under detention in a Jammu hospital in India.

According to sources prominent separatist Leader Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, who was arrested under India’s public safety Act in July last year, has died on Wednesday.

77-year-old Sehrai was a close confidant of hardliner “Hurriyat Conference” leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Authorities said that he had covid-19 symptoms and his oxygen levels had also fallen. He had been jailed in Udhampur since July 13 ,2020.

Sehrai was serving as current chairperson of “Tehreek-e-hurriyat”, a party that claims to struggle for separation of Jammu Kashmir from India.

India alleges that such groups are supported by Pakistani state.
