A long March is carried out against non-prevention of accidents on Quetta-Karachi highway, on Tuesday.

According to details, a long march on foot from Khadkocha to Quetta has been started as a gesture of protest against the negligence of government about the continuity of deadly road accidents on the main and longest highway of Balochistan.

The long march participants include regional tribalĀ and political party leaders as well as people from various schools of thought.

According to the organizers, the long march will reach Khadkocha, Mastung and then in front of the Chief Minister’s House in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, where protests will be held later.

The protestors said that this highway is being used for CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) route but it is still a single track, where we are tired of carrying the bodies of our loved ones every day.

The demands of the long march participants included: doubling of Quetta-Karachi highway, police patrol on the highway at night, providing official treatment to the injured in case of accidents, activating tracker system in vehicles, speed control in urban areas and ban on non-licensed drivers.

It may be recalled that many human lives are being lost due to traffic accidents on highways of Balochistan.

The number of traffic accidents in Balochistan has been increasing day by day for some time now, and the main causes of traffic accidents are not only the dilapidated roads but also the negligence of the drivers.
