The provincial head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Brigadier Hasan Afzal, has died of Covid-19 on Saturday in Quetta.
According to the details, Hassan Afzal had been shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Quetta, in a critical condition in the previous week. He had been under treatment in a secure ward and in strict custody.
In the past week, another high-ranking army personnel, Major Faheem, had also contracted the virulent Covid-19.
On May 10, Major Mohammad Asghar of the Pakistani military had contracted the disease during the screening of the people on Torkham border and had died subsequently.
Currently, the Covid-19 cases in Balochistan are hovering above 9000. The death toll has risen to 100, whereas the recoveries are slightly above 3200.
Earlier this month, Young Doctors Association (YDA) expressed concerns on the occasion of a doctors death, saying “Despite the deteriorating situation of coronavirus in the pregion, the Balochistan government has not addressed the concerns of doctors and medical staff. So far, more than 175 doctors, 60 paramedics and 4 nurses have been infected with coronavirus while four doctors have lost their lives.”
The video message of the wife of Dr. Zubair, who lost his life recently, regarding the non-provision of facilities gone viral on social media in which she says that even the ambulance was not available let alone any other facilities.
