A prisoner suspected for the virulent COVID-19 passed away in the Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Quetta, on Thursday.

According to The Balochistan Post news desk, Tariq Masood was a prisoner in the District Jail, Quetta. Suspecting his untimely sickness for COVID-19, the jail personnel shifted Masood to the Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Quetta, where he passed away on Thursday. However, the confirmation report of his death through the COVID-19 has not been received yet.

After Masood’s death, the jail personnel, the warden and 15 of his fellow prisoners were also tested for COVID-19; an assistant superintendent was tested positive for the disease and is currently in self-isolation at his residence.

The prisoner, Tariq Masood, had been jailed for cheque dishonor indictment.
