A recently recovered missing person has succumbed to the torture wounds and passed away in a hospital in Karachi.

According to The Balochistan Post news desk; Javed s/o Goahram and a few others were allegedly detained by Pakistani forces in a raid in Mand, Kech, and relocated to an unknown torture cell on 7 May. Javed’s younger brother Anees was also detained on 15 May. The detainees were reportedly maltreated in various ways.

According to sources, Javed was thrown at Mand-soro in a very critical condition, where he was discovered later. Observing his deteriorating condition, his family had moved him to Karachi for treatment where he had succumbed to wounds and had lost his life on Tuesday night.

The Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Mama Qadeer Baloch, confirmed Javed’s death in a tweet in Urdu, that read: “Javed s/o Goahram succumbed to the wounds and died today in the hospital. Javed was abducted by the Army from his home in Mand, whereas his younger brother Anees was abducted on 15 May. Javed was thrown in a half-dead, mutilated condition in Mand-soro by the Pakistan Army, and was later moved [by his family] to Karachi for treatment.”

In another tweet Mama Qadeer said, “Javed was illegally arrested by the Army in Mand, Balochistan on 7th May 2020. Javed’s family remain quite concerned about the safety of one of his brothers Anees, 14-year-old, who is in the illegal custody of Frontier Corps, taken away on 15 May 2020.”

Jamal Baloch, a human rights activist and a journalist hailing from Balochistan, expressed his views on the incident in a tweet that read: “They torture, abduct and brutalise us but we never give in neither succumb. Ready to take the struggle forward. It was not Javed who succumbed to his injuries today, but your humanity #World. #Balochistan #OccupiedBalochistan #Baloch.”

Abdullah Abbas Baluch – information secretary and the spokesperson for Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HCB) – tweeted that: “Javed succumb to injuries last night. He was struggling for his life since last week when he was released by Frontier Corps in a very critical condition. Javed’s younger brother Anees’ whereabouts are still unknown. Another youth of Balochistan was killed with absolute impunity.”
