The Harassment case in the University of Balochistan became a hashtag in the civil society in and out of Pakistan. The harassment of students at the University of Balochistan is a smutty act that has been flourished by the officials of the university.
The growing sexual harassment has become one of the most common issues in Pakistan. With each coming day, we see much news of sexual harassment in the newspaper, TV channels and social media. Well in both cases it is the worst thing a society can expect. Unfortunately, we live in a country where 80% of women face sexual harassment on a daily basis. With this percentage, the question arises on the rights of the women whether we are providing them those basic rights of protection?
The harassment which bechanced in a cultured society, where people were lashing the one who has trapped and sexually harassed anyone. Now same society and the holders of official designation are silent on the harassment scandal in the University of Balochistan, the case of UOB is a very serious moment for the parents of those students whose children are enrolled in the university. The student organizations are proving their demand that “the vice-chancellor of University” must be expelled and must be in the line of those who have shamefully harassed the students.
The harassment scandal in the University of Balochistan by the officials and the involvement of administration, teachers and some employees is the case of our culture, our civilization. It is a shameful act for those who are silent and have ceased their lips. The blackmailing of students by their teachers is not a new thing. These cases are always causing peril for the innocent civilians or students who come under the umbrella of obscenity which moves them out of their senses.
Students of the University of Balochistan have been psychologically harassed, sexually harassed, physically harassed. The students’ unions were rooted out, they were abused for the career buildings of the students, they were frightened to cease their lips and be silent, they are deracinated to have student politics at university, and they were squeezed to raise voices for their political rights and career counseling inside the university.
All the student organizations and unions of the country are protesting against coercion. The demand of the students is to scourge those who are involved in such cases, vice-chancellor of the University will have to resign, his silence proved that he has been involved for violating the respect of the girls and his silence shows that the hidden cameras of washrooms and other sites were in his knowledge. We students are looking forward to the response of MPs, MNAs and Chief Minister of the province to deal with this scandal.
