Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the ”Order of Zayed”, the highest civilian decoration conferred by the UAE government, today on Saturday.

PM Modi reached UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi from Paris on the second leg of his three-nation tour to France, UAE and Bahrain. r

The development comes at a time when Pakistan is struggling to get Muslim countries on board in its persistent criticism of New Delhi’s move to scrap the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir region.

The UAE’s ambassador to India, in particular, referred to Kashmir as an internal issue for India.

During the visit, PM Modi will discuss bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Narender Modi is to visit Bahrain, later today.  It will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the country.
