Balochistan National Party (BNP) has lauded recovery of missing persons, while urging that all other missing persons should also be presented before the court of law.

BNP’s central spokesperson and member of National Assembly, Agha Hassan Baloch, said that the recovery of some missing persons is a positive step, however, more needs to be done in this regard. He urged that all missing persons should be presented before the court of law.

Agha Hassan Baloch, who was talking to local media, said that recovery of missing persons was one of the most important demands of Akhtar Mengal’s six demands made to Pakistan’s federal government.

Earlier, Akhtar Mengal had presented six demands to PM Imran khan’s PTI as a precondition to support PTI in formation of government.

Agha Hassan Baloch said that scores of missing persons have returned to their homes in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Makuran, Jhalawan and Sarawan. “This is a step in positive direction, however, all remaining missing persons should also be released on urgent basis”, the BNP leader said.

According to local reports, while few dozen people have returned homes in lat few days, others have gone missing. On Sunday,  at least 17 people were arrested and taken away from two localities of Dera Bugti only. The arrests were made during military raids in Sangseela and Toba Nauhaqani.

The term ‘missing persons’ is widely used in Balochistan to connote arrests made by security forces as the arrested are not presented before court of law and instead kept in military camps.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a campaign group by families of victims, more than 20,000 Baloch men, women and children are under Pakistani custody.
