A bridge located on CPEC route has been blown up by unknown persons.
According to the details received by The Balochistan Post, a key bridge located on China funded multi-billion dollar project China Pakistan Economic Corridor route has been blown up with explosives by unknown persons in Balochistan.
The bridge located near Heeronk in Kech was destroyed on Tuesday.
According to latest updates, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for destroying the CPEC bridge.
In a statement released to media, BLF’s spokesman Goharam Baloch said that fighters from BLF had blown the bridge.
This is not first time bridges on CPEC route have been targeted in Balochistan, In October 2017, BLF had completely destroyed a similar bridge near Gwadar.
CPEC related installations including construction workers and security forces personnel deployed on the route have continuously been targeted. Baloch armed groups claim CPEC was initiated without the ‘will and approval of Baloch nation’.
Last week International Crisis Group (ICG), an international think tank, had said in a report that CPEC project in Balochistan is producing a heavily militarized zone, displacing locals and depriving them of economic lifelines.
BLF also claimed responsibility for an attack on a vehicle of Pakistani forces. The attack in Dasht was reported in the local media earlier on Tuesday.
Gohram Baloch claimed three Pakistani personnel were killed and several others were injured in the attack.
A dramatic increase has been observed in attacks on Pakistani security forces in Balochistan. Scores of attacks have been carried out by armed persons against Pakistani security forces in recent months.
