Warring pro-independence Baloch armed organisations, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and United Baloch Army (UBA), have called truce to the four year long conflict. The decision has been widely praised by Baloch pro-independence elements.
According to details received by The Balochistan Post (TBP), BLA and UBA have decided to end the 4 year long conflict that had resulted in material and life losses to both the organisations. The UBA was created after rifts within the leadership of BLA had worsened in 2011.
In a joint statement released yesterday Mureed Baloch of UBA and Jeehand Baloch of BLA said that the agreement for peace has been made possible after continuous efforts of senior leadership of both organisations.
The statement said that differences between the leadership emerged in year 2008, which resulted in formation of UBA in 2011 due to unaccommodating and discourteous behavior of few elements. Instead of resolving the issues, the problems were raised in the social media, further complicating the already sensitive matters. This resulted in character assassination of Baloch leadership, which greatly benefited the enemy state. The enemy state took full advantage of the issue and the internal rifts were thoughtfully used against the Baloch movement.
These issues finally resulted in armed conflict between both the organisations, which resulted in losses to both the parties.
The statement added that UBA leadership from the very first day was protesting against the imposed war on them. Majority of senior BLA members also decided to resolve the issues, however, they were also subjected to similar behavior from certain elements.
“BLA leadership rejected any pressure and worked tirelessly to resolve the issues for the greater good. A year ago ceasefire was called between both the parties and since then leadership of both organisations was working hard to completely resolve the crisis. Finally, the four year long conflict has been resolved with mutual consent,” the statement by Mureed Baloch and Jeehand Baloch read.
Both organisations vowed that steps will be taken to further improve the relations between the organisations.
Decision Widely Praised:
The announcement of reconciliation between both organisation was widely cheered among the Baloch activists and was called a positive and historical development by Baloch leaders.
Baloch activists took to Facebook and Twitter to congratulate both organisations on successful reconciliation of the conflict.
Baloch leader and senior commander of Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Gulzar Imam Baloch termed the settlement of dispute between BLA and UBA a “positive and historical” step.
In a tweet from his official Twitter handle the Baloch commander said that: ‘Settlement of disputes between BLA and UBA is a historical and positive process. We offer congratulations to the members of both organizations on this historical occasion’.

In a statement released to media, Chairman Khaleel Baloch said that: ‘We commend the Leadership of both UBA and BLA on settling the four year long dispute that had demoralized the Baloch activists. BNM also played its part in resolving the issues between both organisations.’
He added that: ‘It is in the interest of Baloch national struggle that Baloch stakeholders avoid getting into unnecessary conflicts between each other. It is the need of time that unity and the concept of joint struggle are strengthened.’
Wahid Qamber Baloch, a senior commander of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), also praised the development. In a statement released to media, Mr. Baloch said that the positive advancement is a sensible decision and a very good news for the Baloch nation.
