The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has called for the immediate release of political activist Imran Baloch, alleging that he is being subjected to “mental and physical torture” in Gaddani prison.
A BYC spokesperson said Imran Baloch was detained four months ago under the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO) and subsequently transferred to Gaddani jail, where he remains incarcerated.
According to the spokesperson, Imran Baloch is being deprived of his “fundamental human rights” in prison. He is allegedly denied access to medical care and subjected to “severe mental and physical torture.”
The statement claims he is kept under constant surveillance and confined to a single room 24 hours a day, without access to light, fresh air, or adequate food, which the spokesperson said are “basic necessities for human life.”
The spokesperson further said Imran Baloch is not being allowed to meet with his lawyers or family members, and no information is being provided regarding his health, “putting his life in serious danger.”
“We appeal to human rights organizations to take notice of this inhumane treatment and play their role in ensuring the immediate and safe release of Imran Baloch,” the spokesperson added.
