A man has been killed in the Mand tehsil of Kech district, reportedly shot by members of an armed group accused of operating under the protection of Pakistani authorities.

The victim, identified as Mazar—a former Levies constable and resident of Mand Brahui Rek—was shot multiple times. He was being transported to Turbat for medical treatment but died of his injuries en route.

Local residents expressed deep concern over the growing presence of such armed groups, saying their activities have severely undermined peace and security in the region. They called for an end to the violence and for accountability for those responsible.

In a separate incident, unidentified armed men shot and killed a man, identified as Nizar Jan, son of Abdul Ghani, in his native village of Nasirabad on the outskirts of Turbat. He was allegedly killed by a “state-backed death squad.”

Local sources said that in March, another member of the same family, Shakeel Naseer, was also killed under similar circumstances.

Killings by Pakistani forces and “state-backed” militias have reportedly increased in recent months. According to rights groups, at least 43 people were killed across Balochistan in April alone. In the past 10 days, seven more people, including a journalist, have been killed in Awaran district.
