A protest rally was held in Turbat, attended by a large number of citizens and families of missing persons, demanding the recovery of missing individuals.

In Turbat, the main city of Kech district in Balochistan, a protest rally was organised Today that drew participation from women, children, and youth. The rally aimed to protest the disappearance of a Baloch pro-independence veteran, Wahid Kambar Baloch, and the lack of a fair trial for him in a court of law. The demonstration was led by his family members.

The rally was attended by local residents of Turbat, families of missing persons, Wahid Kambar’s relatives, and political leaders and activists. Participants held pictures of Wahid Kambar and other missing persons, chanting slogans against enforced disappearances.

Wahid Kambar, a highly respected and active figure in the Baloch independence movement, was reportedly abducted on 19 July from the Kerman area of Iran. His family and Baloch nationalist groups allege that he was abducted by Pakistani secret agents and transferred to Pakistan, where he is now believed to be in the custody of Pakistani forces.

During the rally, Wahid Kambar’s daughter, Mahleb Kambar Baloch, addressed the participants, saying, “My father has been a part of the Baloch political struggle and has always advocated for Baloch rights. Pakistan has abducted him and is holding him illegally.”

She added, “We demand that he be brought to light and given the right of a fair trial.”

Mahleb Kambar also appealed to international human rights organisations to intervene in the matter and ensure her father’s safety as a political prisoner.

Protesters called for an end to enforced disappearances and demanded Wahid Kambar’s immediate recovery. They stated that the state’s attempts to silence freedom activists through violence and pressure have only worsened the situation.

Families of other missing persons also voiced their demands for the recovery of their loved ones, accusing the state of strengthening its narrative through courts and commissions rather than delivering justice.

Speakers at the rally criticised state policies, saying they have aggravated problems in Balochistan. They argued that state violence has driven people towards armed groups, further destabilising the region.

The rally concluded with participants demanding that Wahid Kambar and other Baloch political and non-political individuals subjected to enforced disappearances be brought to light.
