The accountability court in Quetta has sentenced a former superintendent and a PTCL supervisor imprisonment for corruption.

According to NAB Balochistan’s spokesperson, the accountability court in Quetta sentenced Talat Ishaq the superintendent of the commissioner office, to five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4.5 crore on conviction of making illegal assets.

The court directed to take into custody all the assets worth crores of rupees made by Talat Ishaq in different cities of Pakistan.

Mr Ishaq was accused of misusing his powers to build 2 bungalows, 2 flats, 4 plots in DHA Lahore, one bungalow in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, 2 bungalows and 2 plots in Quetta city.

According to the court order, Rs 2 crore in the bank accounts of the convict, savings certificate of Rs 1.5 crore, 290 tola [3.381 kg] gold, foreign currency of Rs 26.4 million, jewellery worth Rs 14 million, 4 valuable vehicles including a Mercedes is taken into government custody.

On conviction in another corruption case,the accountability court sentenced the former supervisor of PTCL to eight years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7.4 million.

The accused is charged of causing crores of rupees to the national exchequer with the connivance of other associates by making fake delivery bills of goods for various PTCL towers in Turbat Branch
