As soon as educational institutions reopened in Balochistan, cases of corona virus reportedly increased again. After the reports 11 schools in Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Gwadar and Dera Bugti cities were closed, while educational activities have been suspended at Loralai Medical College, University of Balochistan and Women’s University in Quetta.

According to Balochistan Education Department officials, teaching activities in four schools, including a private school in Quetta, have been suspended after the latest cases reported.

In addition, three schools in Gwadar, one each in Zhob, Chaman and Dera Bugti have been closed, while classes at the Balochistan and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University in Quetta have also been postponed.

Whereas, the reports of 3 doctors, 3 other staff members and 4 students at Loralai Medical College contracted the virus have been confirmed. For that reason, the Loralai Medical College has been closed till further notice.

According to health department officials, 950 students and teachers have been tested for corona virus in educational institutions of the province so far – out of which, 67 have tested positive and the test results of 480 people are awaited.
