The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) said in a statement on Thursday that the investigation report of the UOB scandal must be publicized.

According to the details, the spokesperson for the BSAC said that the syndicate committee, the team designated to investigate the UOB scandal, is deliberately whitewashing the incident. He said that the incrimination of a single security guard is an attempt to save the remaining culprits.

The Balochistan High Court had conducted a hearing on the 2019 UOB scandal where the University administration had allegedly used CCTV footage to extort financial and sexual favours from students. The court had tried and convicted a security guard as the sole culprit of the incident.

University scandal investigation completed, security man fired

The BSAC expressed ‘apprehension’ in the court’s judgement and condemned it as an attempt to save the remaining culprits. The spokesperson said that the university administration’s carelessness on a sensitive issue like harassment is inexplicable. He said that the administration’s complicity in the scandal is an act of ‘animosity’ with education.

The spokesperson said that the scandal had taken a toll on the mentality of the students, and the recent judgement of the high court has only exacerbated their anxiety. The court must pass a just judgement so that such incidents don’t surface in the future, the spokesperson concluded.
