Mama Qadeer Baloch, the Vice president of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VMBP) is in Geneva to raise issue of Baloch missing persons with UN groups and other international bodies.

He also addressed a press conference titled ‘Enforced Disappearances in Pakistan’ in Geneva press club, where he said thousands of Baloch have been killed and disappeared by Pakistani state.

According to details received by TBP, the famous Baloch human rights defender and father of slain Baloch leader Jaleel Reki, Mama Qadeer is in Swiss city to highlight the ‘appalling human rights situation’ in Balochistan to the international community.

Mama Qadeer had multiple meetings with UN’s Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) and other human rights groups.

The issue of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and other human rights violations ‘committed by Pakistani state’ in Balochistan was raised in these sittings.

Mama Qadeer also provided documentary evidence to WGEID.

He had earlier addressed a press conference in Geneva Press Club along with other human rights activists.

‘Pakistani Army and its intelligence agencies have slaughtered thousands of Baloch since 1948,’ he told the press conference.

Mama Qadeer said that his organisation would continue its campaign until all victims of enforced disappearances are recovered.

He alleged that Pakistani secret services had threatened to kill him during long march for Baloch missing persons. In 2013, Mama Qadeer and his companions had marched on foot from Quetta to Karachi and then from Karachi to Islamabad, covering a distance of more than 2000km.

The press conference in Geneva was also addressed by other activists including Naela Qadri Baloch (head of World Baloch Women Forum), Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri (Chairman United Kashmir People’s National Party), Munir Mengal (President Baloch Voice Association), Baseer Naveed (Head of International Human Rights Council Hong Kong) Norwegian human rights lawyer Hagen Spydevold and Ali Arjmandi (brother of missing Ehsan Arjmandi).

The activists demanded that Pakistan’s membership should be suspended from the UN’s body UNHRC until the issue of enforced disappearances is not resolved.
