The bail pleas of Khalid Langove, former finance adviser to Chief Minister Balochistan, and former secretary finance, Muhstaq Raisani, have been approved by the Balochistan High Court on Monday.

According to The Balochistan Post’s Quetta correspondent, the accused were ordered to post bail bonds of PKR 5 million (USD 390,000) each to secure their release.

The duo were in prison on charges of a multi-million corruption case, which is considered the biggest ever financial scandal in the province.

In May 2016, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had raided properties of Mushtaq Raisani to recover PKR 730 million (USD 5,703,000) in cash. Jewelry worth PKR 40 million (USD 312,500) was also confiscated during the raid on Mr. Raisani’s residence. Further investigations found valuable illegal properties owned by Mr. Raisani in Karachi’s upscale neighborhood – Defence Housing Authority.

As the scope of investigation extended, Khalid Langove, the then finance adviser to CM Balochistan, was also arrested due to involvement in the said embezzlement of state funds.

However, today the duo secured bail after spending almost two years behind bars.
