Highway blockades, attacks on Pakistani forces and damage to infrastructure took place across several districts of Balochistan, local sources said, while the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for two separate attacks in Naseerabad.

Armed fighters blocked the main Quetta-Kharan highway for several hours on Wednesday, searched vehicles passing through the area and destroyed an empty Pakistani forces’ checkpost with explosives, the sources said.

In a separate incident in Kharan, fighters attacked an under-construction road project at Barshonki on the Kharan-Quetta road on Monday, set fire to construction machinery and took away a grader vehicle. No casualties were reported.

Armed fighters also seized eight large vehicles in the Khadkucha area of Mastung on Wednesday and took them away, local sources said. Reports of firing in the same area had also led to the closure of the highway a day earlier.

Traffic was also suspended at Station, Mall and Ahmed Wal in Noshki due to security reasons.

A bridge was damaged with explosives in Kalat, resulting in the closure of the RCD highway to all traffic and leaving long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.

Clashes were also reported between Pakistani forces and armed fighters in the Chedgi area of Panjgur district.

Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said its fighters destroyed two 220 kV electricity transmission towers on the power line running from the Uch Power Plant to Guddu in Naseerabad by planting and detonating explosives.

In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said two towers collapsed in the blast and two others were severely damaged.

In a second statement issued on Tuesday, the group said it targeted a vehicle carrying Pakistani forces with a remote-controlled improvised explosive device near Haji Muhammad Khoso, within the limits of Mir Hassan police station in Naseerabad.

The BRG claimed multiple personnel were killed or wounded and that the vehicle was significantly damaged.

The group said it accepted responsibility for both attacks, adding that such operations would continue “until the independence of Balochistan”.

No group had claimed responsibility for the other incidents at the time of publication, while authorities had not issued a statement regarding the blockades, clashes, highway closures or attacks.
