Two Baloch women were taken into custody during a late-night raid in the Tejaban area of Balochistan’s Kech district and moved to an undisclosed location, local sources and family members said on Wednesday.
Sources said Pakistani forces entered a house in Tejaban late on Tuesday night and took Zubaida Baloch, wife of Haji Badal, along with her daughter-in-law Zarnaaz, wife of Daulat.
Family members said the two women have not been seen since and have not been produced before any court.
Local residents said Zubaida and Zarnaaz are the mother and wife of Daulat, son of Haji Badal, who was killed on February 18 by what residents described as state-backed “death squads”.
The reported incident comes amid a series of recent cases involving the disappearance of Baloch women in Balochistan and Karachi.
On Arpill 22, Khadija Baloch, a nursing student, was allegedly taken during a raid on the Bolan Medical College hostel in Quetta. On April 16, Haseena Baloch, a resident of Awaran, was reportedly detained during a raid in Karachi’s Naval Colony area and moved to an undisclosed location.
Rights groups say six Baloch women have been subjected to enforced disappearance in April alone, while approximately 16 Baloch women, including students, have been forcibly disappeared in recent months across Balochistan and Karachi.
