Police said on Friday they recovered the bodies of four unidentified men in the Basima area of Balochistan’s Washuk district.

According to police sources, the bullet-riddled bodies were found in a deserted area and taken to the hospital for identification. Preliminary reports suggested the men may have been residents of the Gidar area of Surab. Police said investigations were under way.

The discovery comes days after a major attack by the Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) in Basima, where fighters stormed a military headquarters, ambushed convoys and claimed to have killed 13 soldiers, including a captain.

In the aftermath, authorities imposed tight restrictions in the town, ordering residents indoors and deploying troops across the area.

Rights activists say such killings often follow heavy losses suffered by Pakistani forces in clashes with armed groups. They accuse the military of carrying out retaliatory extrajudicial killings and presenting previously disappeared individuals as “militants killed in encounters.”

Enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings remain among the most pressing human rights issues in Balochistan. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) documented at least 814 cases in the first six months of 2025 alone, nearly equaling the total number recorded in the whole of last year. The group also documented 131 cases of extrajudicial killings during the same period.
