The Government of Balochistan has imposed a ban on public gatherings under Section 144 for fifteen days, effective from 1 August.

According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department on Friday, the directive prohibits the assembly of four or more people in public spaces.

Public rallies, processions, demonstrations, and the display of weapons have also been banned. Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against violators.

Officials said the decision was made on the special directive of the provincial Home Department, citing security concerns.

The first half of August has historically witnessed heightened activity by Baloch armed groups, who oppose the celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14 August. In previous years, such events in Balochistan have been targeted in attacks.
