A man from Balochistan’s Naseerabad district, identified as Azmat Rind, was allegedly tortured to death in custody by Pakistani forces and buried in a remote location without family consent, according to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

BYC stated that Azmat Rind was forcibly disappeared on June 5, 2025, near the vegetable market in Dera Murad Jamali, where he was reportedly taken into custody in broad daylight by armed personnel. The group alleged that he was subjected to severe physical torture during illegal detention, which ultimately led to his death.

On July 9, nearly five weeks later, family members were reportedly informed by military personnel that Azmat had died during custody. BYC said that not only was Azmat allegedly killed while in custody, but his body was also secretly buried at an undisclosed and deserted location in Chhatar, Naseerabad. The family was neither informed beforehand nor given the right to perform his burial in accordance with religious and traditional customs.

The organization condemned the incident, calling it part of a continued campaign of violence against the Baloch population. It demanded an impartial investigation into enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.

The incident comes amid a growing number of reports in Balochistan of individuals dying in custody after alleged torture. On June 10, in a similar case, a man named Nawab s/o Noor Bakhsh was detained during a raid in Rodkan, Kolwah, and later transferred to the Jirk camp. His body was later recovered, reportedly bearing severe signs of torture, including evidence suggesting he was subjected to electric shocks.

In another incident in May, three young men from Turbat’s Dank area were allegedly killed in custody, and their bodies were withheld from families. Despite protests, authorities reportedly buried the bodies without shrouds in a local cemetery. When the families attempted to exhume the bodies in protest, they were allegedly subjected to violence by police.
